The Heckler and Koch UMP-45 (Universal Machine Pistol .45 calibre) grew out of
the MP-2000 (SMG-II) for Special Operations Command, and the resurgence in
popularity of the slow and heavy .45 calibre ACP round, what with the SOCOM
pistol, and the FBI's HRT Pistols both being chambered in this round.
