Subject: DG: Emerald Hammer Recruiting
I wanna second MiB's call to arms: this Emerald Hammer thing is looking
interesting, but we need more writers. You're all sharp Keepers with a keen
appreciation for the Mythos and conspiracies and horror--after hanging out on
this list, how could you not be?--so look over the list of proposed scenario
locales and decide which one you know a little about. Then look over the plot
outlines and notes (those need to be compiled and edited into a coherent
document, by the way) and contribute.
My working estimate is about 5,000 words per scenario, tops: that's about a
page for cultural and geographic notes, a page for background and procedures
on local police/government and the terrorists/Karotechia pawns involved, and
about eight pages for hard-hitting action and horrific description and
characters. Those are REALLY ROUGH guidelines, and solely my own invention,
but they should illustrate that we're not talking about a huge project from
any one writer. (Even if you're masochistic and you volunteer to do two
chapters, like me!)
ALTERNATIVELY, if you have a pretty good in-depth knowledge of one of the
proposed locales, volunteer to help with the background research and fact-
checking! Write up a couple of pages of good, useful background and send it,
then just be available for double-checking from another writer who's handling
the plotting and actual scenario work. For instance, if someone on the list
knows Kiev and the Ukraine pretty well (either personally or from past
research), you could do the background there, and I could put together the
storyline, and we could compare notes to make sure it all fits just right.
