Jorg Klieber (Die Ritter)
Klieber's family defected from East Germany to the West in 1954, when
Jorg was just three. His mother, however, was unable to take the strain
of their escape, and died soon after. Jorg's father never recovered, and
although a reasonable man, could not help but poison his young son's
mind - against the Communists, who he felt had raped his country, and
the Jews, who he felt had allowed them to, by secretly undermining the
once great nation. Jorg's father died eleven years later, and Klieber
spent most of his teenage existence flitting between foster homes in the
worst parts of Western Germany. Despite all the odds, however, steely
resolution and a keen, intelligent mind saw him win a scholarship to
Dussledorf University, and by the time he was thirty, Klieber was a
self-made millionaire (chairman of Klieber construction and Klieber
Property services), and a public relations Godsend for the West in their
propaganda war against the East.
Klieber has always been politically active, and was outspoken during the
Cold War on the 'evils' of Communist East Germany, and also warned of
socialist organisations in the West - encouraging stricter controls on
these groups. In recent years, his emphasis has switched - he criticises
the European Union for the effect it will have on German national
identity, and also Germany's immigration policy - questioning how
Germany can allow so many immigrants to enter the country when so many
native Germans remain unemployed. Recently, he has thrown in with the
German Peoples Union (DVU), and is being mooted as a possible election
candidate next time round.
Klieber, despite being associated so closely with the hard right is
considered a genuine and intelligent man by the German public. Even his
leftist critics have a respect for him, seeing his inflammatory opinions
on immigration as being reactionary rather than racist. The truth is
however a little different.
Klieber was approached by associates of the Karotechia during the
eighties. He had a reputation for financial generosity towards
'nationalist' political organisations, and initially, he was approached
purely on that basis. His enthusiasm, however, and obvious value to the
cause, encouraged the Karotechia to swiftly induct him into the inner
ranks. Klieber was delighted - a man of action, he resented much of the
empty political posturing of parties like the DVU, and the Neanderthal
vandalism and violence committed by skinhead fascist thugs. At last,
there was an organisation worthy of his - and Germany's support.
Klieber generally funds and organises other European fascist
organisations, not based in Germany, so as not to call the BKA or
Verfassungsschultz's attention . He does however, fund the activities
of the Aryan Bruders - a semi- paramilitary organisation made up largely
of ex- East German soldiers. He also uses his extensive network of
business contacts and political allies to track down and locate items of
interest for the Karotechia. One such is De Vermiis Mysteriis. Klieber
has only met Galt once before, and was intimidated by the hulking
cannibal when he arrived at Blud Lodge. Galt has taken to drilling the
Bruders at Blud Lodge and eating the ones who don't pass muster - as it
is impossible to smuggle other 'food' in without the BKA noticing. The
Bruders have rightly become terrified of him. Although Klieber is as
fanatical as the next Nazi, he considers all this sickening and
unnecessary. He will be glad to see the back of Galt.
Mathius Kahn
Kahn worked for the Stasi throughout the late seventies and early
eighties, and was a first hand witness to the downfall of possibly the
most intrusive intelligence agency of all time. This did not bother him,
however; Kahn is no more a communist than he is a capitalist - rather an
opportunistic parasite who will always detach himself from the weaker
host to seek out a stronger, new one. When the wall came down, Kahn
secured his place in a brave, new Germany by shopping Red Army Faction
leaders he had liased with during the Cold War to the BKA. This also
secured him a position in that organisation. Despite an impressive
record since, however, old memories of his crimes still linger, and he
is not a popular officer. Advancement has been hard to come by. Of late,
he has begun selling information to old Stasi colleagues, now working
for the Russian Mafia. What he is looking for is the right opportunity
to become a very rich man and move on, leaving all the old memories
behind.
Heinrich Hassler
Heinrich was a student at Dresden's college of art in the late 1930's; a
skilled dreamer, and a friend of Hermann Van Dultz, the legendary German
explorer the Karotechia failed to recruit. Nazi Germany, however, was no
place for dreamers. Heinrich, on Van Dultz's advice, went underground in
1938 to escape possible persecution. This quite possibly saved his life.
Van Dultz, meanwhile, was arrested by the Gestapo, but managed to
contact Heinrich in his dreams;- directing him to his secret library,
and instructing him to hide it; which Heinrich did. Like many dreamers,
however, Heinrich was not a disciplined man. As the dreams began to
fade, depression set in and he turned to base magic and illegal drugs in
an effort to fill the void. Although a competent mage, Heinrich is
usually in a heroin-induced stupor, and is also a hopeless alcoholic.
His one constant has been his guardianship of Van Dultz's library,
although in recent years, he has forsaken even that - sinking him only
further into a pit of self-loathing despair.
