This is a rough outline of what I've come up with for the China chapter.
Further updates will be posted to the website.

JADE THRONE outline (rough), plus some notes

Tome:7 Cryptical Books of Hsan (special edition, signed and numbered, with foil-embossed cover!)
Bischoffe:Jorg Engle (aka George Angle), with partner-in-crime, Dr. Fat
(Hate) Groups:

The US Embassy in Hong Kong has a problem: a Chinese woman (age, 50s) is there, refusing to leave and insisting that her life is in danger. She won't elaborate, but she claims to be an American citizen by virtue of having an American father...one Joseph Camp. DG of course picks up on this and sends agents to investigate.

(The agents of course have no idea that Joseph Camp is anything other than what his public identity suggests--they will not know that he has anything to do with DG. This might lead to their trying to approach and interview Dr. Camp. Since he's managing this mission--of course!--he can arrange to meet them or not, up to him. He could easily arrange a leave of absence until they have no choice but to proceed to Hong Kong. Which could make them even more paranoid...)

The woman is a professional translator of several Chinese languages, English, German, and Japanese, perhaps others. She was hired by members of a British expatriate retired officers club to translate a scroll (using photostats, not the actual scroll). She quickly recognized it as one of the 7 Cryptical Books, because her father, whom she never knew, had left behind many notes on just such a translation, which her mother kept after the chaos of invading Japanese forces separated them. She translated enough to discover that this scroll contained a code, long hinted at in other research into the 7 Books, that would reveal a ritual of cosmic power, called "Opening the Gates of the Celestial Palace" (aka Call Azatoth). She later overheard two of the British officers speaking in German--among others subjects, they discussed how to dispose of her after her work was done. She fled with the photostats to the embassy.

The 7 Books are in the hands of the groups mentioned above, spread among them. DG must try to secure all the scrolls; although seizing at least one will be enough to prevent the big nasty spell from falling into the hands of the Karotechia, even a part of the ritual would provide them with comparative analysis data to try to unlock the secrets of the version already in their possession via the Gothic Necronomicon.

Due to the strict laws of China, agents will find it safer to travel with no firearms, as they're too likely to be searched by the local police and arrested. PISCES can help with visas and travel permits, perhaps, although the local PISCES office has a neo-Nazi sympathizer in it to make things harder. Thus, agents should have other means of self-defense: specialized concealable weaponry, martial arts skill, familiarity with Chinese culture and language. And of course magic.

Luckily, the bad guys have the same problems, plus the neo-Nazi group is small and aging. Parts of the chapter provide real opportunity for some good-old spy vs. spy stuff, rather than a lot of gunplay. But this is Hong Kong, so there will be jumping-through-the-air-with-two-guns-fu.

Part One: Entry into HK, investigation and interviews, fight btw. Nazis vs. Tong provides opportunity to grab a scroll, perhaps even forge an alliance with Tong (providing access to weaponry). (FIRE, EARTH)

Part Two: Twisted Dr. Fat and his failed West-ian experiments--slip into his home and try to seize his scroll. (WATER)

Part Three: Travel to Tibet to find guardians of the other scrolls. Attack or befriend (or both) secret sect of Tibetan pseudo-Shaolin monks, just as neo-Nazis, Tong, and Twisted MDs launch a physical/psychical attack. The prize: 3 scrolls! (SUN, MOON, WOOD)

Part Four: Travel to Plateau of Leng (Dreamlands Tibet) to get the final scroll. Men of Leng, Spiders, Carcosa/Shangri La? (VOID)
