Enough Tentacle Sex already! Uncle Joe did not have an inappropriate relationship with an Outer God!

Meanwhile, by one of those strange, uncanny coincidences that bug me sometimes, I just got the following from China:

> professor of Peking University and known for his pre-Cambrian life studies

Sad.
But almost too good to be true.
This is the first Chinese chapter seed.

You can't be *too* Feng Shui! I was thinking Grey Dragon Island from
Masks of Nyarlathotep could be used as a Secret U-boat/Luftwaffe Volcano
base. Kinda hard to pull off without becoming James Bondish B-movie
ludicrous.

It's *all* good.

Wouldn't it be Nyarlathotep in his "Bloated Woman" aspect? Also maybe a good one for Void would be contact Yog-Sothoth.....

The Goddess of the Black Fan is required for clues leading to the action on Grey Dragon Island (Secret Volcano Base, Luftwaffe AD, and the secret Karotechia U-boat fleet... OK, they only have one stolen sub, sue me :) Although how these ideas mesh with SuperDave's outstanding chapter is beyond me.

How about a template write-up of the Kunika branch of the Japanese National Police, and the baddies they go up against? Japanese Red Army, Yakuza, Right-wing nutbars etc...

Yeah, I figured on Bloated Woman--but this being set on the Plateau of Leng, maybe there's some Hidden Master aspect that might be even more appropriate. But references to the Bloated Woman will lead the agents on to Goddess of the Black Fan (or encourage them to go on a diet), so it could tie into Jay's chapter (unless he goes ahead with the idea of switching to the Ponape Manuscript). As far as Yog-Sothoth goes, well, I wasn't coming up with these spells myself; I just took them from the DG book, Dr. Joseph Camp's writeup. Uncle Joe happens to already own "a particularly ancient and complete copy of The Seven Cryptical Books of Hsan and two books related to the Order of the Bloated Woman...." I just named the scrolls, split the spells up on them roughly according to theme, and added the idea of a secret-code spell to summon the Big A. The scroll names come from the days of the week, starting with Saturday (Earth), replacing Metal/Gold (Friday) with Void to make things creepy.

I need to find a book that really deals with Chinese writing systems well, but what I've got now gives me the idea that the original 7 Books was written in ancient Xiaozhuan script, which is VERY different from modern script, though if you compare characters you can see how they evolved. Alphonse's copy could be written in classical Lishu script; the slightly more modern script lost the code, so the Summon Azathoth spell dropped out.

And the MiB wrote:

At the moment, I have NO idea how we'll get the characters to the island, maybe a dropped matchbook :-)...hey, what was that word... "outstanding?" Hey, wait a minute--you CAN'T be the MiB! You must be an imposter! GUARDS! SHOOT THAT MAN!

Now there's an angle: protomatter shipped in natto containers! Misdirected shipment goes out to Lawson convenience stores across the country, and mass reports of "killer natto" follow! All part of a revived Unit 731 project.

On Sun, 27 Dec 1998, David Farnell sat his Candy-Ass in the Jabronie Cafe, was served a heapin' helpin' of Smack Down with a side order of Know Yer Role, and washed it all down with a nice warm cup of Shut the Hell Up!:
