LIBRETTO and assorted Friendlies

Note: DG agents can count on two rather different resources while in Italy. On one hand, the legit forces connected with the Libretto op.
On the other, some less than legit resources that can be traced back to the original OSS hunt for the "Kulten" book.

Tenente Salvatore Capua

Age 31, "Comando Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio Artistico" Specialist and Carabinieri/Interpol Liason
SIZ 13 CON 15 STR 12 DEX 13 SAN 55
APP 12 INT 16 EDU 19 POW 10
Degrees: Fine Arts Degree, Uni. of Messina
Relevant Skills: Archaeology 20%, Art 20%, Credit Rating 40%, Law 35%, Drive Auto 30%, Forgery 30%, History 40%, Library Use 35%, Photography 30%, Spot Hidden 50%
Languages: Italian 65%, English 45%, Latin 15%
Weapons:: Martial Arts, 35%, Beretta M92 40%, 1D10

Character Description
LT Capua is a man that found the best of both world close at hand. An Arts Graduate from Messina, he discovered in the CCTPA not only an escape from a career as a teacher, but a new purpose in life.
A true art lover, he has so far been part of two vast operations that led to the retrieval of stolen archaelogical goods and the breaking of an international art smugglers ring.
He sees the current assignation to Libretto as a mixed blessing - while it grants him an opportunity to work within an international elite (if old fashioned), on the other hand it might slow down his successful string of operations.

Roleplaying Notes:
More relaxed than the average Carabiniere, capua will probably feel more at ease around DG operatives or other foreign guests than with his own colleagues.

Dottoressa Lorena Mariotti

Age 32, DIGOS "observer" on the Libretto team
SIZ 11 CON 14 STR 12 DEX 13 SAN 60%
APP 14 INT 12 EDU 18 POW 12
Schools: University of Milan, Law Degree
Basic Skills: Accounting 35%, Computer use 25%, Credit rating 45%, Law 65%, Persuasion 40%, Look good in a dark suit 95%
Languages: Italian 90%, English 65%, French and Spanish 50%
Weapons:: S&W .38 revolver, Martial Arts 35%

Character Description:
One of the many, perky Scully-lookalikes that have been crowding the State Attorney office in the last few years, Mariotti has been attached to the Libretto show in two main functions: as an observer for the Department of Special Investigations (the political branch of Italian Law enforcement) and as a front-woman should the need of an official meeting with the media arise. She can help with the legal side of the Hammer investigation, as a DIGOS patch can open many doors.
On the other hand, there's a definite chance (15%) that her daily reports can be leaked to Propaganda-friendly elements in the government.

Roleplaying Notes:
Aggressive and opinionated, hates to be left behind.

Capitano Arnaldo "Arnie" Colombacci

Age 42, ROS-unit CO
SIZ 14 CON 17 STR 15 DEX 14 SAN 55
APP 12 INT 16 EDU 19 POW 10
Schools: Scuola dell'Arma, Torino

Basic Skills: Climb 55%, Dodge75%, Hide 50%, Jump 65%, Parachuting 35%, Sneak 45%, Swim 60%, Throw 70%, SCUBA 45%, Militaria 65%, Strategy and tactics 70%.
Languages: Italian 80%, French 30%
Weapons:: Beretta 9mm, Berretta 5.56mmN SC70 Assault Rifle 40%, Commando Knife 55%, Submachine Gun 35%, Martial Arts 60%,

Character Description
Should things heat-up, Captain Colombacci is ready to step in with a 15-men unit from the Raggruppamenti Operativi Speciali.
Originary from Florence, Colombacci is a man that rose through the hierarchy from the bottom echelons, teaching himself the skills he needed for the job when the Corps Schoolwas not enough for his tastes.
He is generally considered an iconoclast by his superiors, but has a spotless record and is good with the men on the force.
Massively built but only apparently slow, a stolid face hiding a keen intelligence, Colombacci is foul-mouthed like many Florentines, and is sure to get the job done, no matter what.

Roleplaying notes:
Colombacci perceives himself as a warrior, in the medieval tradition.
Given a mission, he will carry it out with a minimum of fuss and total disregard for bureaucratic hindrances. Let the paper-pushers clean their mess when his job is done.
Swears like hell.

Maresciallo Tonino Scognamiglio

Age 56, Carabinieri Corps worldweary veteran
SIZ 16 CON 12 STR 11 DEX 10 SAN 45
APP 10 INT 11 EDU 8 POW 7
Basic Skills:Typing 10%, Feigning Attention 65%
Weapons:: Beretta 9mm 15%, a copy of a sports newspaper
Character Description
Scognamiglio is the weak link in the Italian Libretto unit.
A squat Maresciallo that spent most of his career following the path of least resistance through the intrigues and the power-struggles of the Territorial Organization, Scognamiglio has manouvered to end up in Libretto as it sounded like the kind of post in which to spend the last two years before the pension. Scognamiglio is weak-willed and servile, and generally despises his Commanding Officer (Capua, a "shoolboy in uniform") and the foreign elements (he can be caught mocking them in Italian if he thinks he cannot be understood), while reserving some spicy comments on miss Mariotti.
In case of action he'll crawl in a nice spot and hope for the best.
His only instrumental utility is a good knowledge of the urban geography of Rome and environs, and some contacts in the criminal underground.

Roleplaying Notes: Scognamiglio has always a justification ready if caught not doing his duty.
His goal in life is reaching the pension without incidents.
He is, of course, in the wrong place.

Generic CC

Basic skills. Law 35%, Rifle 40%, Pistol 50%.

The bulk of the Libretto operation will be carried out by generic Carabinieri, many of them "Ausiliari" carrying out their Military Service.
While generally worth their salt, these men are clearly no match for the forces Propaganda can deploy.

ROS TAC-Team Member (SWAT)

Basic Skills: Climb 45%, Dodge 65%, Hide 40%, Jump 55%, Parachuting 25%, Sneak 45%, Swim 50%, Throw 60%, SCUBA 35%,
Weapons: Rifle 40%, SMG 35%, Commando Knife 35%, Martial Arts 50%.
A basic unit (12 men) will include a sniper or a demolition expert. The unit is normally chopper-transported.

A FRIEND IN THE FAMILY

Don Gaetano "Gegé" Caribiddi

Age 42, landowner, friend of friends, OSS-related contact
SIZ 13 CON 14 STR 12 DEX 12 SAN 55
APP 11 INT 12 EDU 11 POW 12
Relevant Skills: Credit Rating 45%, Intimidation 55%, Law 35%
Languages: Italian 75%, English 30%
Weapons:: 12 gauge shotgun (45%)
Character Description:
An elegant country gentleman, Caribiddi is the nephew of the man that originally tried to track the "Kulten" for OSS in 1945.
A man sticking to the old code of Cosa Nostra, he is today a marginal fixture in the much more aggressive and ruthless young crimelords. Only the network of favours built by his family over the last century, and the respect that all family heads have for his late father and grandfather, enables him to mantain his independence and neutrality in the arena of organized crime. DG agents contacting caribiddi and availing themselves of his help will notice that all his "friends" - while formidable - appear to be in the over-40 age bracket.
The opportunity offered by DG is for him the chance of a lifetime - walking in the footsteps of his grandfather, feeling like a kind of modern Robin Hood. He will probably never cash in on the favour he is doing to his American buddies.

Roleplaying notes:
Caribiddi is smooth and soft spoken.
A formidable adversary, raised by a samurai-like code of honour, he is at heart a romanthic and a relic of an age long gone.
His main use to DG operatives is as a source of "black" resources, manpower and informations.

Generic "A Friend of Gegé's"
