HELP FROM CELL A

The agents may of course contact cell A for help and information during their mission.
Any reasonable request for information from Delta Green's files will be provided, including limited information on agent Rosenberg, and perhaps the Karotechia.

Agent ROSENBERG

There is only one, very small file on Rosenberg that has survived all the years since he left the conspiracy.
The agents will get a censored version of it, from before he came into the conspiracy full, it's basically an annotated version of his Military jacket, describing his membership of the Rangers, his skills, and his contact with [PORTION REDACTED] in coastal operations on Mainland Europe. He is noted as a good security risk, and a recommendation has been placed in the jacket that he be inducted into Delta Green security Clearance as soon as possible.
There is a picture of him in Ranger's uniform which compares favourably with his current face.
There is a list of sightings from 1960-1970, placing him in various middle-eastern countries, probably working for Mossad and various pro-Israeli groups, and a copy of a letter from the Simon Weisenthal Institute denying any contact with a Jakov Rosenberg.
On the outside of the file has been noted that sightings of this man should be reported to Agent ANDREA soonest.

DRAFT OUTLINE - CHAPTER 6 - EMERALD SHELL

"Al Azif is found in the basement ashes of a San Francisco brownstone." The Compendium has reached half-way Stefan Alzis smiles to himself on the East Coast as he assembles the pages of his masterwork. Outside his disciples are plotting, whether for him or against him, no-one can say.

On the West coast, a small time group of racists with big idea's decide to go into the drug's business, selling only to minorities at knock-down prices. In order to provide a supply, they decide to take it from those who sell drugs to white Teenagers.

Whilst raiding the house of a chemist working for the Tongs, they interrupt the owner in the perusal of his greatest find; a copy of Al Azif, smuggled into the country many years ago by his ancestors. The police are called to the ensuing battle, and after the smoke clears, and the burning drug-house is put out, a volunteer fireman finds a sealed room in the basement of the building, with a book, in a hermetically sealed case. He spirits it away to show to friends.
[Corrupted members of public services]

From there the Al Azif is given to the head of the local chapter of the American Underground Army, an anti-government survivalist group preparing to graduate into a terrorist organization. The leader has been exposed to the occult by his links to several knights of the Karotechia, he knows something about _true_ reality. He decides a summoning would be the best wake-up call to America.
[Gun crazed freedom fighters, plotting against the US government]

Surviving members of the Aryan Brotherhood report back to their leader, a student of the Thulegesselscahft's records, telling him what they saw in the basement of the brownstone, he decides he wants the tome, and sends them back to the site of the fire, to learn that the greatest prize had already been taken. Unfortunately, he had already reported it to his superior, a knight in the service of the Karotechia.
[Hate-filled race-group, HK weaponry and fire-bombs in the night].

The Knight, not trusting the Aryan Brotherhood to recover the book has reported to a Bishoffe, who has ordered a team of Karotechia knights into the city to get it back. The Bishoffe is the son of a long-dead SS Panzer-gunner, with a big chip on his shoulder that his father was not a victorious tank commander. Rather than trust his team of knights to recover the book, he too travels to San Francisco to direct the operation personally, sitting in his hotel suite, summoning the spirits of the dead Dealers to gain their knowledge of the Al Azif.
[Hitler's Teutonic Knights and Ritters least-trusted Bischoffe]

The Tongs on the other hand wanted revenge for the loss of several men, a large quantities of drugs, and their chemist wanted his book back, and the tongs will do a lot to keep their chemist happy.
[Martial arts and two-fisted pistoleers ahoy]

The Tong chemist has decided to get it back on his own, and has summoned certain other 'beings' to return it to him, sacrificing one soul a day to keep the creatures bound to his orders.
[Shades of Big Trouble in Little China]
Delta Green has been informed by a friendly of certain other artifacts that were discovered in the city. They have contacts within the police department, and with some luck, will come across the corpses left behind in the fray.
[Hapless G-Men, who know not enough]

Naturally the police want the gang-war stopped, they want the Aryan's dead, after one officer died in the shoot-out, and they want the others in jail. Unfortunately for them, some of their members belong to the American Underground army, and one is controlled by a mobster who is controlled by someone else until the top of the chain is reached, and Stefan Alzis sits like a master puppeteer.
[Corrupt police force gunning for revenge for a fallen officer]

Add all these ingredients into the mix, and you have a treasure hunt in the basements and across the rooftops of San Francisco, with several teams all working against each other, trying to chase down and recover the most famous mythos tome in existence.

Before the American Underground Army use it to summon something big.

Before the Karotechia can get their hands on it.

Before anyone blows it up.

Before the spirits of a thousand Chinese ancestors return it to it's last owner.

And in essence, that's the introduction.

Not being a mythos guru, would anyone like to tell me what chaosium adventure/author I've just managed to rip off?

I haven't the slightest idea what you're talkin' about.

Anyway, a good swerve in SF would be a woman claiming to be a long lost descendant of Al-Hazred, but actually just a grifter being used by the Fate. This would bring honor back to the authors of "Whispers in the Dark" preventing their scheduled seppuku.

Ok, so I've been busy, and not paying attention, I admit it...

Who/What is ANDREA?

I assume it's part of Cell A?

Could some one elaborate please
thanks.

Andrea is the third member of Cell A mentioned but not described in DELTA GREEN. On this list she has been hypothetically described as the chief "cleaner" of the organization, responsible for security up to and including wetworks.

But none of us are cleared for that information.

Besides, it's pretty obvious that ANDREA is left as an exercise for astute Keepers.

NPC's - AGENT ROSENBERG

CHAPTER 6 - EMERALD SHELL

"Exposing the Karotechia"

WHY

We're almost halfway through the basic campaign at this point, and by this point, the DG agents should have a clue that something is going on, and that more and more of their operations are coming into contact with Neo-Nazi organizations, some with a lot of pull, and all somehow connected together at some level. At this point, the Emerald Hammer will crack the Emerald Shell, and the rot that is the Karotechia will be exposed.

WHO

Perhaps we can add a renegade DG agent, one who continued the fight against the Karotechia, and lost the sanction of the Conspiracy. He'd be old now, perhaps in his sixties or seventies, but he was placed "out of sanction" by Gen Fairfield a long time ago, and the 'original' ANDREA attempted to hunt him down, and failed.

Here's a nice dilemma for the team, do they turn him in to Andrea and the cleaners, or do they get as much information out of him as possible, possibly giving him DG funds and gear to continue his crusade. Quite possibly he has the attractive (insert preference here) child trained to carry out his crusade after his death.

He needs the name of a classic betrayer, or someone who was betrayed/cast out. Like AGENT LUCIFER, but perhaps a little more original...

He's probably a look-alike for Darren McGavin too ;)

Perhaps the agents will be able to take him on one last crusade against a specific Bischoffe that he has a grudge against. Perhaps they die together.

Perhaps he's too much of a cliche?
Votes please gentlemen

He or she probably works for the Simon Wiesenthal center or JADL as a Nazi Hunter. Mossad contacts, and Kabbalism themes! We need more Ass-Kicking Jews in Emerald Hammer anyway.

I figured the Karotechia would have been the obvious enemy from the first couple of chapters: wasn't the plan for Hubert to appear to have thrown in with the Karotechia in his coup at the Auction?

Interesting background. I like it, but it needs a good story: why was he taken out of sanction? Why was he scheduled for cleaning? (Remember, early in Fairfield's day the organization was official, and the need for ruthless security measures may have been less stringent. I don't believe the cell structure was even in place until recently.) Why did the assassins fail to catch him? Has he been on the DG "Wanted" list ever since? Has he taken steps against DG in retaliation?

It may be a challenge to play him so that the players will be moved to protect him rather than haul him in for some forcible debriefing. That'll need to be written carefully.

I'm ambivalent on this one. It's been done a whole lot.

Agent BENEDICT? (But see above about the cell structure and use of code
names. Maybe just make it his real name as a teaser?)

With the above caveats, I like the idea. Go with it!

Deep Throat: No need to make him a traitor to DG. I like the idea of a former "cowboy days" agent who went a bit around the bend and retired for his own mental health. He was never really in the "official" DG--he was in during the outlaw years (of course, these are still the outlaw years, but at least we're organized now). Now he's back, shakey but wanting to finish the job that nearly killed him. Of course, he's really being controlled by Alzis--but he doesn't know it. Cliche climax: he finds he's been a pawn all along and claws his own eyes out.
