Emerald Grotto

Lets start at the very Beginning:

This scenario is, of course, dependent on the actions of the players in the previous scenario. They should have acquired sufficient information to clue them into Gault's immediate destination / plan. If not a method of getting the group into the scenario is provided but it is a rather clumsy mecanism and works better during the scenario as an aid to the keeper to 'nudge' the team in the right direction when things go wrong. And go wrong they will.

PART I

Timeline:

The dates for the following scenario will be determined by the Keeper after reference to the first two chapters of Emerald Hammer.

Locations:

Wilton House is a real manor house which for game purposes has been located in the Severn Valley Area. The following Web Address has a brief history, location map and photographs of Wilton House:

Christmas Steps, another real location in Bristol the oldest and most historic part of the centre of Bristol that survived the Bombing during WWII. This is a famous tourist area and more information can be found here.

Interestingly St. Michael was the only angel described as having wings of Emerald Hue.

Backgound Information:

The Lord of Wilton House the right Honorable Charlie Higgson has just inherited the title along with the death dues, in order to pay the tax man he decides to sell some of his fathers collection of books. House clearance sales are a speciality of Yakubczk Brothers, a used bookstore in the Christmas Steps area of Bristol, run by Karol Yakubczk, Karoly being a highly knowledgeble bibleophile has acquired a set of very rare books indeed; The Revelations of Glakki volumes 1-13, he paid a fair price for them, actually he ripped his lordship off royally, and now has legal title to them. These are complete in every sense of the word down to the trap in Volume 13 by Y'Gonolac. Karoloy knowing the true price of these books has put feelers out amoung his contacts in the bibliophlic community in the UK in order to find a buyer. His first and indeed only instinct is profit.

Working for Yakubczk is one Matthew Forester a young expert in the care and restoration of old books. He is sufficiently skilled at his work to have obtained much better work in his choosen vocation but does not want to move far from his native Bristol and so labours in the one job he could find which suited him. He also has a hobby, while caring for the books that pass through the shop he copies parts of the occult tomes like any other glove cleaner and passes them on both at random around Bristol and to his friends from his university days with whom his hobby originated. They are always attempting to outdo one another in terms of the rariety and the shock value of the cleaning they do. Young Mr Forester is about to win his game and have a very bad time as a result.

The actual cleaning he performes on the Revelations occurs before the scenarion begins, he copies several pages from each volume including Volume 12 and posts them at random around Bristol. He also makes the mistake of sending a photocopy of his work to a Univerity friend who is a Y'Golonac cultist. This friend realises instantly what Forester has within his reach and decides to retrieve it for his lord and so that he can become the Avatar of Y'Golonac.

This is the state of play as the PC's become involved.
