Oooh, similar to my own musings! I've got a whole background
thing of DreamWars (TM) going on in my campaign. Players haven't
run into it yet, but it's coming. Excellent--more people's ideas
to plunder! I like Chris Nichols' ideas, too, about corrupting
the buopoths (sp?) and such.
EVIL
Dreamlands! And it leaks through into normal dreams... (WWN:

Post! I just plan for EH to lightly brush the surface of the
DreamWars thing. I also think that it is the Waking World that
determines the character of the Dreamlands and not Vice-Versa.
The dreamlands just has a lot of resonance from the mystic past,
which is about to get "modernized."

I'm thinking a much more subtle thing, with certain isolated
locations bleeding gradually into Carcosa. This will happen more
and more until I finally get around to fleshing out LOST CITIES
for ENDTIMES. Think about a Dystopian SteamPunk Carcosa,
Clockwork Cybernetics, Fluidic Calculators and Juice-heads who
plug into them, etc...
It's a more interactive Carcosa! :)

Great. More stuff for the DreamWars. So, maybe this cult has a
Dreamlands connection--more Dreamers give Herr Klemp more power
in the Dreamlands? He might be a carpet-remnants salesman in the
waking world, but he's a Living God in the Dreamlands.

Yeah, I've got a thing going where there are domains of the
Dreamlands which are influenced by the waking world, and thus
take on the character of the corresponding culture of the area.
Since Norte Americanos have been fixated on modernisation and
progress from the beginning of our young culture, (and since guns
are such a big part of USA life) I have a Dreamlands domain
corresponding to the American Southwest, which has a few guns
(only in the hands of knight/samurai-like Gunslingers, a la
King's Dark Tower series), steam locomotives, and such. Only
about 150 years behind the waking world, rather than 500. (Note:
Not ALL areas of the Dreamlands are influenced by the Waking
World. That would severely limit the fantastic possibilities of
the Dreamlands.)
Oh, a good place to get a few Dream Masters to rip off is the
KULT book, pp. 218-227, the section on KULT's dream realm.

Grr. Well, my self-imposed schedule to Finish This Damned Paper
gives me a deadline about December 5. After that, I can turn my
thoughts more fully toward another project.

Yes, i like that better. But I'm still going to make Samson go
over completely in my game (unless the players can come up with a
way to stop it--yeah, right!)--Samson will be a ghost city
surrounded by a huge Full Wilderness Total Preserve, the first of
many, access limited to groups no larger than 5, no technology
beyond the Stone Age, full understanding that being eaten by
bears (heh, bears, sure) is a distinct possibility. Satellite
photos detect nothing wrong with the ruins of Samson, but
actually entering it brings one into Carcosa. Last warning before
it's too late: Poe's "The Conqueror Worm" is scrawled
on the old "Welcome to Samson" roadsign (look up the
poem--it's very, very Lovecraftian, and perfectly suits the whole
Endtimes theme).

Sounds like Bilbo of the Gatespeople is behind it.
Be seeing you,

Here's an idea. Smash that floating city that Kuranes runs into
Celephais. That'll learn 'im.
In other news, the first EMERALD HAMMER post is in Digest 184.

Serannian doesn't float in the air, that's a Lumleyism. It's
actually built onto the horizon, 'where the sea meets the sky'.

Not that you can't still drop it on Celephais. You just have to
get someone big to pick it up first...
