Administrivia:
1. I assume by their ominous silence that Pagan's horde of laywers is too busy with COUNTDOWN to take notice of EH. Or they wholeheartedly approve, either way is fine with me, as legalese makes me homicidal :)

2. Chapter volunteer Authors so far:

One : Oklahoma : Chris "Agent BEAVIS" Nichols (chrisnicls@hotmail.com)

Three : Severn Valley, UK : Rob "Agent BUTT-HEAD" Thomas (ThomasR@cardiff.ac.uk)

Nine : Mexico City : Shane "Agent BONER" Ivey, (Croakerjr@aol.com)

***Chapter assignments are first come, first assigned. So get 'em while they're hot!

Unassertive or Undecided types currently on the bandwagon:

Jacob Busby
Marc Mielke
Jimmie Bise Jr.
Phil Ward

3. As a matter of policy, I plan to hold all EH disscussion on the DG list now that bandwidth seems to be no biggie anymore. I could just as easily come up with a CC: list and ask Mr. Phil Ward to archive such semi-private email on the Ice Cave or other website should technical difficulties arise.

4. That reminds me to send ole Phil a note requesting his services in just such an arena. NOTE: "Do it Ward, or else I post the .mpeg to alt.sex.cthulhu.binaries." I figure an "Ice-Cave" format of our discussions so far (all saved on cyberspace.org) is fine for now. Later on we can implement a Table of Contents page and so on. (when I say "We" I mean "You" of course :)

5. TIMETABLE : a best case scenario has all authors signed on and assigned by 01 DEC 1998. All Roughs in and website layout finalized by 01 JAN 1999. All rewrites done by 01 FEB 1999. Total completion by 28 FEB 1999. A four month project that will take two years :)

6. Artists? I have some moderate sketching, but no reliable method of scanning. I will attempt infiltration of my local universities unsecure computer labs. Anyone else wanna waste time sketching monsters and Nazi's who should be deaders?

7. Something nasty I want to incorporate is a list of racial epithets and derogatory remarks for use as a roleplaying resource. I may be a sick fuck, but this idea just cracks me up :)

PLOT & THEME:
So far we've got Stefan Alzis and his Compendium. The Karotechia being goaded on. The Dreamlands being torn apart. International Cooperation making a difference. Die Lebenstentoten in Revolt. And the utter destruction of the Karotechia.

HOUSE EX MISCELLANIA

I'll be seeing how much html I can crank out by leeching a friends's internet access. Probably getting a geocities page or something.
Organization is key to the success of any endeavor, so a central clearing house/ website is the first goal I have in mind. This will allow for some serious mining and refining of ideas old and new.

The exact process for authors needs to be set up. My preliminary ideas:

1. Discussion on the list.

2. Salient points archived on website.

3. Rough Draft

4. more discussion.

5. more archival

6. rewrites ad-infinitum

7. Author commits suicide in a blood crazed frenzy of biting and clawing.

Naturally as a voluntary online gaming Editor, I have lowered myself to the most base and vile form of accomplishment since political lobbying was conceived by Nyarlathotep. After wallowing in such verbiary slime, I can only further devolve myself by abandoning all morals and ethics and enrolling in law school. Pray that I don't take that final step off the precipice and into the abyss... Not that they'd have me, too much Human DNA I think.

Buy Pagan Publishing Products liberally sprinkled on the work ;) ) they'd wholeheartedly support the thing.

2. Chapter Volunteers
So many good chapters, so few people, I'm probably going to end up throwing idea's and research into every one, but I'll start by volunteering for San Fransisco, because it'sclose to the start and I fancy I can do a reasonable job (DARFC).

Oh yeah, can I be Agent BOOGER? Or does the MiB get to the choose the names, so he deoesn't end up with 13 agent "Rules" or 13 agent "Fires"?
3. I'm already archiving off all the relevant (natch) discussion but I'll probably end up taking it off nocturn'e archives too jsut to make sure.
4. Volunteered and already doing it :) perhaps that anal-compulsive-collector defect (-5 pts) has a use after all ;)
I'll happily do table of contents and so-forth in the same style as the Ice Cave

Oooh, close... I'll provide what I can in the timetable, but it'll probably take someone with more time to produce a polished piece of work. Which is of course what the editor (ptui) is for.

6. As for art, I'll bescanning stuff and getting a friend who's a tidy sketcher to put stuff together. I'll do my own maps, and steal some from official sources, etc. If anyone needs stuff scanned, you could send me a photocopy or a library reference. Especially Rob as we live in the same city.

I have a japansese one of these culled from a cyberpunk site somewhere, if I have the credits, etc still I'll send it to you.

HTML code for legalese at the bottom of every page:

Legalese
We should also insert some parody stuff with the serious legalese.

With my mastery of MRML (Mind Reading Markup Language, look it up, the specs are on the web) People Against Goodness And Normalcy will do whatever ridiculous thing I say. But I would never tell abuse this great responsibility by telling people that I am god or to put spam on their heads and cucumbers up their nose .

Codenames will change every week, as I couldn't possibly be bothered to
remember them. But nothing is stopping you from being the "self-proclaimed
BOOGER-man" if that's what makes you happy.

Yes, that's why it's a best case scenario.

Q: How do you break Phil Ward's finger?

Anyway, brain-storming a whole list of idea's to go with the Emerald Hammer stuff, which should be on the way tomorrow or the day after.

For the time being:

One thing I always liked about Shadowrun adventures (ptui) were the short pieces of fiction that set the scene for the GM, and provided a better synopsis of some of the scenario than the 'for the GM' section.

The other thing (apart from the big guns) was the newspaper section that appeared at the end of the adventure with a succeed/fail section based on the party's actions. Assuming that there are only two outcomes to the mission (PC's foil sacrifice, PC's become the sacrifice), then we could have two "differently-sanitized" versions of their actions coming out in a newspaper.

Not too hard to do, I expect.

SR has always had the benefit of FASA's superior graphics and artwork along with better writing and support than most Cyber genre games. This made up for it's ludicrous premise and clunky game mechanics.

Anyhoo, I have some ideas about a church burning and gospel music and a Karotechia raid on a church for the pre-credits montage for the opening chapter of EH (the concentration Camp episode).

We still do not have URL confirmation. Phil Ward will have one soon Or he'll be subscribed to the Moral Majority's Anti-RPG mailing list.

Kudos to Rob Thomas and Shane Ivey, who have drafted outlines of the UK and NYC chapters respectively. Send them money and booze and wimmen'. Their outlines will be available for public consumption at the once and future EH website.

I'm gonna code-name each chapter EMERALD (something), probably something ironic, have to see the chapters first.

Something for EH authors to work on is a "cliff's notes" sidebar for The various neo-nazi scumbags in their chapter.

I've arbitrarily decided to have the Gothic Specialist be a reluctant Vatican priest (Father Guido Sarducci, or some such) This gives an immediate connection to the Italian Chapter and may very well lead to the burning of the Vatican archives.

Here's a chilling thought: What happens when Arlington National Cemetery is robbed, with the honour guard slain? What if Fairfield's grave was robbed? Do ghouls have his brain? Are the Karotechia going to resurrect him? Maybe CORE brain carboned him?

KAROTECHIA INTERNAL POLITICS:

Galt is a mercenary type who appears to be working for the Bischofe. Over the course of EH, his true role should become more and more apparent. The Bischofe work directly for Bitterich, and Galt performs tasks on the sly for Dr. Frank. Galt needs to keep The real reason he wants Father Guido Sarducci from the Bischofe. The Bischofe "accidentally" turn the doomed priest into Die Lebenstentoten for transport back to La Estancia.

DREAMLANDS:

The chapter in Kiev involves a hunt for cult members, each of whom have some pages from the Book of Eibon. They escape into the Dreamlands. Unfortunately, they emerge in the city of Celephais which is under siege by a strange army led by a mysterious Red Knight.

The Red Knight and his army are empty suits of Iron Armor. Their battle-cries echo with hollow percussion. They hail from the newly risen Fortress of Iron. Unknown to all, they serve Eibon the Black.

King Kuranes wants to preserve the Dreamlands, Eibon wants it shattered. Thus armies march and Celephais burns.

The rise of Kuranes II and his Ghost Queen take place in the Lyons, France chapter. More on this later.

MORE DREAMLANDS:

Majestic-12 victims in Cryogenic Suspension for years. In the Dreamlands, they are known as the Inquisition of Sleep. What they want and who they really serve is unknown. (I haven't fleshed them out yet :)

Am I volunteered on this project? I'm ready to do some writing, and all I need's a chapter assignment. Come to think of it, I can handle the Arlington National Cemetary project (since I live all of 45 minutes Away from it and have been there several times....)

Cool. I know that MiB had me on the "Unassigned list". If Chapter 2 or 6 are available, I'd like one of those. I can also take a swing at the new Arlington National Subplot, however it decides to manifest.

Just let me know which way to go! :-)

However, as soon as the URL is operational, I'll email some immediate updates to you. Davide Mana's P2 speculations, Shane Ivey's Outlines of NYC and Mexico City, Rob Thomas' UK/Severn Valley Outline etc..
