The Heckler and Koch UMP-45 (Universal Machine Pistol .45 calibre) grew out of the MP-2000 (SMG-II) for Special Operations Command, and the resurgence in popularity of the slow and heavy .45 calibre ACP round, what with the SOCOM pistol, and the FBI's HRT Pistols both being chambered in this round.

The sporting version of the UMP! this weapon is closely related to the UMP but not so much as to invite an import ban.
It has the maximum 10 round magazine capacity, a 16 inch barrel, and a non pistol-grip stock. the weapon will not accept full-size UMP magazines.

SPECIFICATIONS

Ammunition: .45 ACP, 25- or 10- round staggered-column, single position-feed, detachable, polymer box-type magazines.
Method of Operation: Unlocked blowback, fires from the closed bolt
Modes of Fire: Three available; 1) semi-automatic only; 2) semi-auto and 2-round burst; 3) semi- and fully-automatic. Cyclic ROF is 580-700 RPM, depending on ammunition.

Barrel: Six groove, polygonal rifling, with a right hand turn of one twist in 16 inches, 200mm length (7.87 inches)
Sights: Rear Sight: two-position, flip-up type with MP5 Peep Aperture, and MP-5 style open U-Notch, adjustable for elevation zero and windage, one piece injection moulded front-sight and protective hood. Threaded hard point in front of rear-sight for mounting MIL-STD-1913 rails and attachment of optical sights.
